Size Matters

At my session on Saturday afternoon, I did my last weigh in ever… at the Studio.

In order to stay consistent, I’ll be weighing myself, on my little scale, once a week. To be honest, I’m sort of bummed. I’ve been coming in at least a pound lighter on Bill’s scale. As I feared, I “gained” a little weight since my last post.

Of course, I’m working through what to eat, how often, and when. And this week, I allowed myself to “cheat.” (More on that later. ) Yet I was still unhappy to step on the scale and see that the number was higher.

Weigh In 05.24.09Why this obsession with numbers? Not even a month ago, when I weighed 216 lbs, I wasn’t worried about that little blue screen. Now, I can’t take my eyes off it!

The reality is, this is the one measure that most of us can relate to. How many pounds do you weigh? How many pounds can you bench press? And so on.

Back in the day, when I did the Weight Watchers program, my friend and I agreed to stop thinking about this number. We changed the name to WayWa and declared ourselves “inch watchers.”

Change over time

So yes, size matters.

And today I took my measurements, as I will every weekend until October 30th.

These few days of data show only a slight downward trend, but to me, that’s progress!

So, at 35 years old, it looks like I’m not that far away from US “average” measurements, but I can’t settle for average. Not this time.

I’m currently 50 pounds away from my goal (okay, 50.1), and maybe a total of 25 inches to go! I know I’m not alone.

Thank you so much for your encouragement and for signing up on the e-mail list. (We’re still giving away that free kettlebell at the end of June ’09!) As always, I look forward to hearing from you!

  1. Hey Miss Angela,

Might I suggest you hide that scale from yourself. Do not become obsessed with the number on the scale. That number should not define who you are. Then, once per month (not once a week) pull the hideous thing out and take your measurements and weight in.

Do not focus on the scale. Instead, focus on eatting right and exercising every day. Find a program you like and just focus on pushing play.

True, you were never one to settle for average. What does the 4.9 come from? It’s not inches and not pounds? Anyway, i kinda like the idea of changing your name…let’s think of something funky!! Proud of you for biting the bullet in so many ways and SUPER amazed and proud that you are posting numbers/size/measurement. A true hero and inspiration!

I like that. If it’s not play, it’s work, so I *will* “focus on pushing play,” and keep playing! Thank you!

G-friend, I was shopping today at Macy’s, and guess what? They don’t make a bra in 43, he he he. And then I realized, OMG! I’m putting my BUST size out there in cyberspace for everyone to see!!!!! Hi, everyone! I’m a 43C! Ha ha ha ha!!!!
Thank you for the compliment, and for commenting on my blog. You (and everyone else here) ROCK!
