Excuses

Hey folks! Here’s my stats for the last couple of weeks. As you can see, starting in mid-September, my weight and measurements have gone up slightly:Stats 09.20.09

unhappy blueberry cakeFor the last few weeks, I’ve been working out on average 3 times a week, and I’ve been eating a lot of sugary foods.  Moreover, this past week, I’ve been at the coffee house again, sitting and working on my laptop.

It’s no wonder that my weight — and my waist line– have gone up!

This begs the question, “WHY?” I have a goal, and I have the desire. I have some mechanisms in place to reach that goal. What’s my excuse?

I saw a great quote today by Art Turock:

stop making excuses“There’s a difference between interest and commitment.  When you’re interested in  doing something, you do it only when circumstances permit. When you’re committed to something, you accept no excuses, only results.”

I’m blessed to have another day on this earth, and about 5 weeks until I turn 36. I need to stop squandering my time here and commit to the things that matter today and in the long run.

Any thoughts?

    Hello.

I’ve been keeping up with your website, I too am struggling with weight loss. Maybe not struggling, but should I say dealing with it. I see how dedicated you are and just wanted to say don’t give up, hang in there. Think about how good it feels to be under 200lbs, you don’t want to hit that mark again. Remember how long it took you to get below 200. Something new that i’ve aquired through all of this, is not my focus on “losing weight”, but rather on feeling good, being stress free and being healthy! The one thing that makes me feel healthy, energetic and stress free is running. I never liked running till this summer, its such a stress reliever for me..especially with a little one, i have one of those too. Sometimes, just 30 minutes everyother day for yourself is good. it makes you a better healthier person. Well I hope this helps, hang in there.

    Peace out.

Wow, thanks for the encouragement! I’m not that excited about running… maybe I’ve been doing it incorrectly? I’ve found the only times I’ve enjoyed running, strangely enough, was on a treadmill. My trainer also wants us to start running, or at least put a little bounce in my brisk walk.
    *sigh*
I probably won’t be able to avoid it much longer! :)
Thanks again for your comment- it helps to know others are keeping track of me!

I’m totally for running on the treadmill! I live in NM and am a student at the University of New Mexico. I run on the treadmills at the UNM gym, when I can I run outside, but now that fall has set in, i’m running inside more. Well, additionally I don’t consider myself a runner, but rather a jogger. Everytime I go, I push myself harder, but not to the point of burning myself out. I think of all the stress and use it as my motivation to keep running LOL, it works, especially with school…i graduate in December…stress, stress, stress.

Good job on your current stats, you motivate me to stay strong and keep pushing along.
